What Are They Planning for Ferro – Alloys Company in Aswan?!
Workers in Ferro – Alloys Company in Aswan revolted against the gross negligence prevailing in the company and leading to grave consequences and losses. Previously mentioned negligence ranges from multiple huge fires to the burning of an electric generator, along with other facts. Workers went on strike bearing in mind the possibility that the company’s management would respond to their demand which is to conduct thorough investigations to determine who is responsible for these incidents and to take measures that would preserve the company and its assets. Moreover, these events had indirect impact on workers who were affected by the economies of the company and whose wages and incentives were reduced at no fault committed on their side. It is worth mentioning that wages range from 300 pounds to 400 pounds. It is obvious that the real reason behind these destructive incidents and unjustified deductions is the inefficiency of the managing body. However, workers incessant requests and demands for promotion and improvement were neglected. Therefore, they resorted to striking starting April 23rd, 2012 to put management face to face with their responsibilities. The most incomprehensible and confusing response was that of the holding company.
Egyptian Democratic Labour Congress warns against the repercussions of the current response to workers’ demands. It seems that the managing body (deliberately ignoring workers’ demands) has some interest in workers’ continuing with their strike. One guaranteed result for these strikes is the destruction of the furnaces . Something that the holding company is targeting to launch its malignant plan which is to annihilate Egyptian industrialization by ruining its factories one after the other; thus, finding legitimate reasons for privatization of the industrial sector. Moreover, workers will be laid off and their families will be stranded.
Egyptian Democratic Labour Congress questions the officials of The Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries regarding the continuation of this administration that failed in the management of the company on numerous levels. The congress call’s the chairman to assume his responsibilities and to invite a delegation of representatives of workers to reveal the truth about what is happening in the company in an attempt to rescue the assets of the company that might be damaged because of halting production.
Moreover, The Congress calls on the government of Dr. Ganzoury to take the necessary actions to rescue Egyptian industry companies and to restructure them so that these companies can resume their role in the advancement of the national economy of Egypt. In addition, EDLC calls for urgent investigation to determine who is in charge of the disasters occurring, what the truth is and who is capable of running these companies for the benefit of the Egyptian people.
